Darren Lim is an Australian composer for film and neo-classical music with cinematic, ambient and electronic influences. Over the years, he has had the pleasure of writing for successful Australian feature films, short films and advertisements. His career began during his studies at The Australian Institute of Music in the early 2010’s.
Darren is known to compose for diverse stories that are powerful, thought provoking and beautiful. His unique trademark writing style is minimalist, experimental, broad and elegant. He is also known to mix large orchestrations into his music creating a wide spectrum of sound mixed into his own. Darren has earned some recognition for his work such as a nomination for his ‘Little Boy Blue’ score in 2016 at the St Kilda Film Festival and a best original score win for his ‘Campesinos’ score in 2019 at the Made in the West Film Festival.
Apart from writing scores for film, he is working on his debut album of contemporary neo-classical music and offer’s his writing services for some of Australia’s and US’ prestigious scoring companies including Hans Zimmer’s & Extreme Music’s ‘Bleeding Fingers’ located in Santa Monica California.
