"As an artist, I created 'Songs of the Nightingale' to delve into the complexities of the night and its associated emotions. My intention was to craft a musical journey that would traverse themes of dreams, death, stillness, reflections, war and transformation, inviting the listener to explore their own inner landscape under the cover of darkness.
For this project, I had the pleasure of collaborating with some of Australia's most accomplished soloists, as well as the esteemed Budapest Art Orchestra, to bring my vision to life. Additionally, I was very fortunate enough to work with the talented actress Geraldine Hakewill, who contributed her spoken performance to the album.
Through a combination of neo-classical, ambient and experimental sounds, I sought to create an immersive listening experience that would transport the listener to a realm of introspection and reflection. I aimed to capture the elusive beauty and depth of the night, its mysteries and all its quiet nuances, to evoke a sense of wonder and awe in the listener.
Overall, 'Songs of the Nightingale' was a labor of love and a testament to my dedication to exploring the full range of human emotion through music. I am glad to have been part of this creative process, and I hope that listeners will find something meaningful in the music and the journey it takes them on." - Darren
